The East and West Hendred Women's Institute was established in 1921. Our membership come from local towns and villages and is made up of women of all ages and backgrounds.

We are a 'modern women's group with a traditional ethos' and want to be part of village spirit, learning new skills, and benefiting the local community.

We are a a diverse group of ladies, friendly and welcoming - come along and give us a try, we are not all “Jam, Jerusalem and baked Victoria Sponges”, even though we have some of the best jam makers and cake bakers in Oxfordshire! We have a varied, interesting and educational programme with some terrific outings. Check out the Programme Page and see if anything ‘takes your fancy.’  Our 2012/2013 programme is full to the brim with wide-ranging presentations including a Magician, Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, and even a tour of the Bank of England Museum.

We visit interesting places some not available to the public, we help others in the community; we fundraise and learn about the wider issues in life. If you are new to the area and looking to meet new people and make friends then join us at one of our monthly meetings held on the third Thursday of the month at Snells Hall Community Centre, East Hendred at 7.30 pm and you will be warmly welcomed.

Other Events planned for 2012/2013 - as well as our monthly meeting we enjoy a wide variety of activities

THURSDAY 21 JUNE - INN SIGNIA PUB SIGNS
“PORT AND LEMON PLEASE”
Inns and public houses are a rich part of Britain’s heritage. Join us to hear from John Ericson who will tell us why so many pubs are called the ‘Red Lion, the ‘Crown’ or the ‘White Hart’ along with intriguing stories behind the ‘Drunken Duck, ‘The Blazing Donkey’ and ‘The Bucket of Blood.’
Guests and new members will be warmly welcomed.
